Yes, moving to New York City is tough but moving to NYC in the middle of a pandemic is tougher. It didn’t take me long to decide which problem I wanted to solve for:

Very early on in the process, I realised that the anxities were all valid concerns. The problem statement should be to solve the cause of the anxiety.

The new problem statement :

After identifying the new problem statement, I mapped the ecosystem. I noted what information I would need to gather from the sources. Which was then followed by making BS Peronas, Journey Map, Empathy map and interview guide for primary research.

Primary research lead to some interesting insight - people were not dreading the now, as much as they were the future.

And the secondary research:

Both primary and secondary research had a common theme - density.

This insight led to me change my problem statemnt further, making it:

Out of the crazy 8s, only two went on to the concept canvas. But only one made it through the User Testing stage - The Traffic Map.

Looking at the journey map, it was clear that the problem had to be solved before they reached the station - before it was too late.
